About Me
Hello, and welcome to my collection of academic and creative work! I am happy you are here.
I am a graduate student of the Masters of Arts Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS): Writing and New Media program at Athabasca University. I love going to school, and I sometimes wonder if it is an expensive hobby or a tormenting obsession. Despite bemoaning how little time I have for other things, I have to admit I feel a lot of comfort and satisfaction in pursuing higher education. School for me is like sipping tea in front of a blazing fire, cozy socks on my feet, a cat on my lap: I can't get out from under it.
My education before my MAIS journey includes a BA in Liberal Studies, a diploma in Horticulture Therapy, a Community Support certificate, and a Landscape Technician certificate. I have been an educational assistant, home care worker, and support worker for many years, but I have recently decided to move on from the caregiving field to pursue more creative work. I've also been a farmhand and a landscaper.
I am a poet, a dancer, a gardener, a little sister, a partner, and an unconventional mother. I am honoured to have the opportunity to craft poetic and perform alongside a creative motley crew in the Comox Valley, British Columbia. I am currently, and desperately, and frantically trying to remodel a 1980s 5th wheel to live in for the winter (the rising cost of housing is a formidable beast).
